About · WebWright

The developer's shipwright.

WebWright builds an OpenAI-compatible inference API for developers. One key, one base URL, usage-based pricing.

What WebWright is

WebWright is an AI-powered API platform for developers. It serves Wren R1 through an OpenAI-compatible API, so an existing OpenAI client library works after you change the base URL to https://webwright.ai/v1. Authentication uses a Bearer API key issued from your account dashboard.

Alongside chat completions, the API covers audio transcription and optional web search tools on chat requests. Our published internal benchmarks from 04.2026, at production load, compare Wren R1 with Claude Sonnet 4.6 at $0.40 per 1M input tokens and $1.60 per 1M output tokens, against $3.00 and $15.00 for Sonnet 4.6. The homepage reports the full comparison.

Pricing is usage-based, with Hobby, Pro, Team and Primo plans, and Standard or Premium token rates. The trial converts to Hobby after four days or when its assigned token budgets are exceeded, whichever comes first. Read the details on the pricing page.

The name

WebWright held legal rights to the name Webwright before Microsoft used it for an open source project. Microsoft has since rebranded that project to CUAWright. The name rights matter is settled, and WebWright continues under the name it has held.

Several other domains and package names in the namespace, including webwright.com, webwright.co, webwright.me and pypi.org/project/webwright, belong to third parties. We compete for the brand query through clarity and authority, not legal action.

What we are building

We ship a small, dependable API surface and document it plainly. The API reference covers the endpoints, error codes and rate limits. The FAQ answers the questions we actually get asked. Our blog carries engineering notes, quickstarts and product updates, written by the people shipping it.

Cline and OpenCode are tested with the OpenAI-compatible endpoint. We name only integrations we have verified, and we do not claim uptime or support terms beyond what we publish.
