WebWright is an AI API platform, not a web agent or browser
automation tool. It serves the Wren R1 model through an
OpenAI-compatible REST API. If you already use an OpenAI SDK, you
change the base URL to https://webwright.ai/v1, keep your
existing client, and call chat completions or transcription with one key.
What WebWright is
WebWright is a hosted API for Wren R1, a model built for agentic and coding workloads. The API surface is intentionally small and follows the OpenAI shape:
GET /v1/modelslists the available model.POST /v1/chat/completionshandles buffered JSON and streaming SSE chat.POST /v1/audio/transcriptionstranscribes audio with the same key.
Authentication uses a Bearer API key issued from your account
dashboard. The base URL for every endpoint is https://webwright.ai/v1. The model id is wren-r1. The API reference documents the
request and response shapes, error codes, and rate limits.
Plans are published on the pricing page: Hobby, Pro, Team, and Primo subscriptions, plus Standard and Premium pay-as-you-go token rates. Every plan includes a four-day free trial, automatic top-ups when an allowance is exhausted, and a 200K context window. Transcription is billed by audio duration and is included free on the Premium pay-as-you-go tier. If you want to model your own volume, the cost calculator takes your token counts and returns an estimate.
What WebWright is not
WebWright is not a model marketplace. We do not offer a picker of third-party frontier models. The platform serves Wren R1, and the story is one model that is cheap, fast, and OpenAI-compatible rather than a catalog of many.
WebWright is not Microsoft's Webwright web agent. Microsoft Research's project of the same name is a terminal-native web agent. WebWright is an API platform for developers. Microsoft has since rebranded that open source project to CUAWright. The name collision is the reason this page exists: the canonical definition of our product is the one you are reading, and the canonical home is webwright.ai.
Who it is for
WebWright is for developers building agentic and coding products: coding agents, autocompletion, code review bots, documentation generation, and chat features where token spend scales with usage. The primary audience is indie developers and small AI startups who feel the OpenAI or Anthropic bill and want a drop-in switch. Engineering teams at scale-ups use Team plans for pooled usage, SSO, and usage analytics. Regulated buyers can request a HIPAA BAA and dedicated infrastructure.
If you are early in the decision, the developer questions hub answers the eight questions developers ask in the first hour with a new OpenAI-compatible API. The FAQ covers billing, integration, security, and the free trial in more detail.
How to try it
Start the free trial, copy the API key
from the dashboard, and send one chat completion against https://webwright.ai/v1 with the wren-r1 model. The trial runs for four days or until its assigned token budgets
are exceeded, whichever comes first. After that it converts to Hobby,
and you can upgrade or cancel from your account dashboard at any time.
